MINNEAPOLIS - J. Discount Ultra Boost China .A. Happ returned to the Blue Jays in time for the clubs three-game series against the Twins. Hell be a long reliever for the foreseeable future, something with which hes not thrilled. "Its not necessarily what I prepared to do but if the phone rings and its me Im going to try and get guys out and take it from there," said Happ. "Other than that, I dont have a lot to say about the bullpen role." Happ entered spring training with a spot in the starting rotation. He pitched his way out of it, posting a 20.57 ERA in four appearances, battling inflammation in his back through most of March. After two poor outings, Happ was away from the club for two days, March 7-8, on what the Blue Jays termed "doctors orders" to remain off his feet. Happ returned and was no better in final two starts. The back issues, deemed to be a non-issue after Happs final appearance in a 22-5 loss to the Pirates on March 25, were the cause of his being placed on the disabled list the very next day. Happ made two rehab starts, one for Single-A Dunedin, the other for Triple-A Buffalo. With the Bisons, Happ struck out six hitters in 4 2/3 innings. The arrival of Happ, coupled with the optioning of catcher Erik Kratz to the Bisons, puts the Blue Jays back into an eight-man bullpen, three-man bench scenario. Another pitching decision is on the horizon with the impending return of closer Casey Janssen. Neil Wagner, Esmil Rogers, Todd Redmond and Happ are the four who could be realistically considered on the bubble. Both Rogers and Redmond are out of options. On merit, Redmonds earned the right to remain with the club. Happ has an option remaining but because he has more than five years of major league service time, he has the right to refuse assignment to the minor leagues. Rogers has given up four home runs in 8 1/3 innings of predominantly low leverage relief. However, he carries a $1.85-million ticket and is, indirectly, the asset the Blue Jays have from the John Farrell "trade" to Boston. Rogers was acquired from Cleveland for Mike Aviles, whom the Jays got from the Red Sox for Farrell, and Yan Gomes. Gomes, by the way, just signed a six-year extension with the Indians for $23-million. Or, the Blue Jays could simply option Neil Wagner back to Triple-A Buffalo, although that would fly in the face of any claim to stick with the best 25-man active roster. Manager John Gibbons trusts Wagner in high leverage, late-game situations but when Janssen is back, right-handers Steve Delabar and Sergio Santos will fill that role. The bullpen is, once again, a crowded place, and now includes a member who doesnt want to be there. "I see myself as a starter," said Happ. "I dont think thats any secret. I want to be a starter in the major leagues. Thats that." RASMUS PROGNOSIS GOOD Colby Rasmus wasnt in Tuesdays starting lineup, resting his left hamstring, which he tweaked in the fifth inning of Sundays win in Baltimore. "Im hoping to be in there (Wednesday,)" said Rasmus. "Come in (Wednesday) and see how it is. Got some good treatment in today and just going to go from there." The timing is unfortunate considering Rasmus recent offensive production. He hit home runs in both Saturdays and Sundays games and went 4-12 with three runs scored in the series with the Orioles. "I definitely feel much better today," said Rasmus. "I feel good about it. I dont feel like its something thats going to carry over. Just one day to get it right and hopefully (Wednesday) it will be good." REYES AND JANSSEN PLAY FOR DUNEDIN Jose Reyes and Casey Janssen made their first appearances for Single-A Dunedin on Tuesday night, the next step in their respective rehabilitation assignments. Reyes, coming back from a strained left hamstring, went hitless in four plate appearances but drew a walk, scored a run and drove in a run. He will play for Dunedin, again, on Wednesday and is expected to return to the Blue Jays on Friday, in time for a three-game weekend series in Cleveland. Janssen pitched the first inning, allowing a hit and striking out one batter. Theres no timetable set for Janssens return from an abdominal strain. Hell have at least one more appearance for Dunedin; then, maybe another. The Blue Jays are waiting to see how the injured area responds before determining how to proceed. WEATHER PROBLEMS Minnesotans are bracing for a rain-snow mix on Wednesday, which could threaten the second game of the series. Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey is scheduled to pitch for the Blue Jays. The Twins are to send right-hander Mike Pelfrey to the mound. Thursdays getaway day game is scheduled for 1:10 eastern time. This is the Jays only scheduled visit to Minnesota this season so if Wednesdays game is postponed it stands to reason the teams would play a doubleheader on Thursday. Ultra Boost Clearance . The former central defender calmly nodded it down and quietly went about celebrating a win with his staff. For a man who has had a lot on his shoulders this season, it was an appropriate moment. With a spot in the postseason already secured, the Toronto Argonauts now turn their attention to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as the two teams get together on Friday night at Rogers Centre. You can watch the game live on TSN, or listen live at TSN1050 Radio at 7pm et/4pm pt. The Argonauts, even without key performers like Ricky Ray and Chad Owens, have been tearing it up as of late, winning four straight in order to put considerable distance between themselves and the rest of the East Division. In fact, the team has even established league records by winning four straight games in as many weeks away from home, thanks to a 34-22 triumph over Edmonton last week at Commonwealth Stadium. Toronto had just a single point at intermission and trailed 22-1 in the third quarter before mounting the comeback bid, putting up 33 unanswered in the teams fourth straight come-from-behind victory. Toronto running back Chad Kackert scored a pair of touchdowns, accounting for 155 yards on the ground. Quarterback Zach Collaros threw for just 152 yards and a major on 17-of-32 passing, while Marcus Ball returned an interception 57 yards for a score in the final minute to put the game out of reach. Toronto has won a franchise-record six road games this season and is 9-0 when scoring at least 30 points. The team can clinch a home playoff game with a win this week and should the Argos come out victorious and Montreal also fall to Edmonton, the team would capture first place in the division with several weeks of action still to come. As for the Tiger-Cats, a team which is sitting in second place in the East Division, but six points behind Toronto, there is still hope for the postseason, but the squad will need a little bit of help. In order for Hamilton to sew up a spot in the playoffs, it must not only defeat Toronto, but at the same time have both Winnipeg and Edmonton bow to their opponents in Week 15 action. The last time out, Hamilton scored the first points of the meeting against visiting Calgary, but then saw the Stampeders rip off 17 straight and eventually lead by a 17-4 score at the break, en route to a 35-11 victory on the road over the Cats. Alternating wins and loosses over the last five games, Hamilton saw both Henry Burris and Dan LeFevour get considerable time under center, combining for five interceptions and less than 250 yards through the air. Wholesale Ultra Boost. Neither signal caller threw a touchdown pass, although LeFevour did make it into the end zone on a one-yard run in the third quarter. Burris, who was sacked twice, entered last weeks contest with 50,367 career passing yards and needed just 169 more to move past Ron Lancaster (50,535 yards) to become the fourth-leading passer in CFL history, but he ended up with just 134 yards before heading to the bench in the third quarter. C.J. Gable, a rookie running back out of USC, had his best game yet for the Ticats as he carried the ball 13 times for a career-high 132 yards, but still that wasnt nearly enough to offset all of the turnovers suffered by Hamilton. With 569 yards on 92 carries here in 2013, Gable currently sits fifth on the leader board for rushing yards in the CFL. As well as Gable ran the ball last week, Hamilton is still a team that takes its cues from Burris, although his mounting mistakes are beginning to overshadow his league-leading 3,899 passing yards and .659 completion percentage. Burris is third in the league in TD passes with 20, but at the same time he has 15 INTs, most among regular starters. While the Tiger-Cats operate with a seasoned veteran at the helm, Toronto continues to go to battle with Collaros calling the shots, while Ray remains on the injured list. Collaros, who has four rushing TDs this season, is connecting on about two-thirds of his pass attempts and has an efficiency rating of 100.3, reducing his mistakes along the way in order to push the Argos to the top of the standings. This is the first of back-to-back meetings for the teams, with another encounter set for 10 days from now in Hamilton. The Cats own a 123-91-2 advantage in the all-time, regular-season series dating back to 1950, but it was Toronto that captured a 39-34 victory in the most recent matchup when the teams kicked off the 2013 slate against each other in late June. Toronto has won four straight and five of the last six battles in the series. SPOKANE, Wash. Tarell Basham Jersey . -- The guys in green raced off the court and into the locker room where they danced and sang, compared whose shot was most likely to end up featured on "One Shining Moment," and checked Twitter to see who was giving them a shoutout. North Dakota State pulled off yet another 12 seed stunner and enjoyed every moment of it. "I just want to keep coaching this team," NDSU coach Saul Phillips said. "I dont want to have to say goodbye to this locker room." Lawrence Alexanders 3-pointer with 11 seconds left forced overtime and Carlin Dupree came off the bench to score four unlikely points in the final 75 seconds of the extra session, and the Bison knocked off No. 5 seed Oklahoma 80-75 Thursday night. NDSU (26-6) picked up its first NCAA tournament win by rallying in the final minute and outlasting the Sooners in overtime. Alexander finished with a career-high 28 points, but itll be his falling-down, fist-pumping celebration after the tying 3-pointer that will be replayed in Fargo for years. But that was just the first act. Dupree came on in the closing seconds of overtime after Taylor Braun fouled out, hit two free throws and scored on a difficult baseline leaner with 41 seconds left that put the Bison up by four and ignited the celebration. Phillips ran over to the fans in green and yellow, threw his arms in the air and screamed at the top of his lungs. No one could hear the excitable North Dakota State coach with all the noise. The Bison quickly realized they grabbed the nations attention. "You guys figure out how big it is," Phillips said. "I know its very gratifying and I know that for guys like Lawrence and Carlin and everybody on this team, couldnt have happened to a more fitting group of guys, because they have done what it takes to be exactly where we are right now, year-round." While players were monitoring Twitter to see who had been watching, the schools own athletic department account probably had the best line. "Well gladly be your Cinderella, America." Except this Cinderella doesnt fit the traditional mould. These Bison are proven. They won at Notre Dame in the regular season. This is part of a progressive rise under Phillips since the Bison made their first tourney trip in 2009. They have a swagger not typically seen from smaller programs, because the Bison dont see themselves that way. Take Alexander. After releasing possibly the biggest shot of his career -- the tying 3 that forced overtime -- he hollered "buckets," so confident the shot would rattle through the net. "Thats a lot of confidence there big fella," Phillips said. Cameron Clark led Oklahoma (23-10) with 25 points, including 16 in the final five minutes of regulation and overtime. Isaiah Cousins added 17 points and Jordan Woodward had 13, making up for leading scorer Buddy Hield being limited to nine points on 4 of 14 shooting. "They fought, kind of out hustled us on rebounds and things like that, but overall theyre a great team," Clark said. Whenever the Bison needed a big shot, Alexander answered. With Braun bottled up by the Sooners defence, it fell to Alexander to pick up the scoring load. The most he scored all season was 20 points and his career-high came in 2011 as a freshman. No basket was bigger than the 3 that forced overtime. Braun drove into the lane and was cut off. Alexander was his only option. After briefly struggling to get the handle, he rattled in his fourth 3-pointer of the game. Oklahoma gave NDSU a chance at tying by twice missing foul shots in the final minute. Oklahoma had chances to win in regulation getting off three shots. Hields open 3 rimmed off, Woodwards free-throw line jumper was short and Cousins reverse layup attempt at the buzzer never caught the rim. NDSU scored the first four points of overtime on baskets by Bjorklund and Alexander, but Clarks 3 pulled Oklahoma even at 70. Braun put the Bison ahead with 1:39 left 72-70 on a driving layup. After he fell to the court, Braun got tangled with Clark, who appeared to inadvertently kick Braun in the face. No additional fouls were called, but Braun fouled out seconds later reaching in as Clark attempted to shoot. Clark hit both, but four seconds later Dupree -- a 58 per cent free throw shooter -- hit a pair to put the Bison back in front. Following an Oklahoma miss, Dupree drove baseline and scored instead of running off time. It was the shot of an inexperienced freshman, but Phillips didnt mind. "It was just a great experience for me," Dupree said. Quenton Nelson Jersey . You can catch all of the action live tonight at 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt on TSN with the pre-game show before the 9:10pm et/6:10pm pt tip-off. Here are 3 Keys for each team. Enjoy! UCONN KEYS: 1. DOMINATE THE GUARD PLAY: Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright have been terrific so far in the tournament. Their ability to take you out of your comfort level with their tenacious defense and their ability to create and make their own shots is big. They are more experienced and, in my opinion, as talented, if not more talented, than the Harrison twins - they must dominate this match-up and frustrate the young guards. 2. REBOUNDING: Kentucky is +9 per game in the Tournament on the boards. That is a huge disparity and a big part of Kentuckys game is the second or third shot per offensive trip. UConn must neutralize this or theyll be in trouble. This is not one of UConns strengths. but theyve got to find a way to win the 50/50 battles and be physical. With the Wildcats, UConn is giving up lots of size inside. 3. DeANDRE DANIELS: After averaging 20 points and nine boards in his last three games, Daniels has to continue to be that versatilebig man for the Huskies inside and use his shot-making ability while facing the basket. Hes a tough cover and his ability to make the three-ball and lure you away from the hoop can take the Kentucky big out of their comfort zone a bit. They did a wonderful jjob stopping Wisconsins big man, Frank Kaminsky, with lots of attention. Malik Hooker Jersey. Daniels has to pick his spots, yet has to assert his game early and establish the fact that hes a guy getting lots of touches and attract the double team to open things up for teammates. KENTUCKY KEYS: 1. LATE SHOT CLOCK & GAME CLOCK SITUATIONS: The Wildcats have really impressed me with their discipline and poise in the tight situations. Decision-making with the ball and the types of plays and shots theyve been getting have been much improved over the early part of the season. Theyve been excellent at being organized and fundamentally sound on defence with a great attention to detail as the game progresses. They must continue to be sound on both sides of the ball. 2. TURNOVER MARGIN: Take care of the rock. Thats what it comes down to. Kentucky has been really steady in this regard and helped prevent run outs against their defence. They are a very good half-court defensive team that has the quickness, athleticism, size and length to frustrate opponents. You get folks into that type of game and then grind them. UConns guards want to run and create chances in open space. The fewer turnovers, the more the style of play favours you. 3. MARCUS LEE / JULIUS RANDLE / JAMES YOUNG: Energy, offensive rebounds, blocks, deflections, post scoring effort plays and paint domination are major areas that these, among many of the Kentucky young front court players, can get the upper hand over the Huskies. Beat them to the punch and be the better front court. SAN DIEGO -- Years later and some 500 miles to the south, Tyson Ross still considers the San Francisco Giants to be rivals. Air Max 270 Offerta . Born in Berkeley and raised in Oakland, where he later pitched for the As, Ross beat the Giants for the first time in six career appearances by throwing eight scoreless innings to lead the San Diego Padres to a 2-1 victory Friday night. "East Bay, man," Ross said. "That was a lot of fun. I grew up an As fan, so that rivalrys definitely there. The Giants were the rival at heart for me growing up." Ross held the Giants to four hits, struck out nine and walked one. The Padres handed Matt Cain his third straight loss. Ross (2-2) beat Cain five days after topping AL Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer and the Detroit Tigers. The right-hander was rarely in trouble, despite allowing a leadoff double to Angel Pagan. Ross then retired the next eight batters. He walked one. "From there he really made pitches. I thought his stuff was outstanding," Padres manager Bud Black said. "He was in a pitching duel with one of the proven National League pitchers in Matt Cain, and matched him. It was a great, great pitching duel." Pablo Sandoval was the only Giants runner to reach third base against Ross, after hitting a single leading off the seventh and advancing on a walk and a double play. Sandoval was stranded when Ross got Brandon Crawford to line to shortstop. Ross has made two strong starts after opening with two shaky outings. Black said Ross made a big mechanical adjustment between his second and third starts. "He just sort of reverted back to sort of muscling the ball with his upper body and not really driving off the mound and keeping his right foot securely against the rubber and pushing off," Black said. "When a pitcher doesnt use his lower half, his stuffs going to suffer." Ross said hes worked to keep his foot against the rubber longer and not rush his pitches. "Since Ive made that adjustment Ive been more consistent in the strike zone and had a better feel for all my pitches," he said. Cain (0-3) allowed four hits and one unearned run in seven innings while striking out eight and walking two. The Giants have played eight straight games decided by one run, their most since another streak of eight in a row in August 1910, according to STATS. "Its tough," Cain said. "Any way you lose, its not fun. Tyson threw the ball really good over there and he didnt give us many opportunities to score runs. When we had chances to do it, he (bore) down and got the job done." Chris Denorfia tripled to right-centre with one out in the first and scored on a passed ball by Hector Sanchez, who couldnt hold onto ball four to Jedd Gyorko. "We were trying to throw outside and it cut on him a little bit," Cain said. "I got to a count where I shouldnt have. I should have been a little more aggressive in going after Gyorko and getting him out." Yasmani Grandal, pinch-hitting for Ross in the eighth, homered off Juan Gutierrez, his first. Huston Street got his sixth save in six chances, but not before allowing Brandon Belts homer to right with one out in the ninth, his sixth. Street walked Hunter Pence with two outs before striking out Sanchez. After allowing Denorfias single with one out in the third, Cain retired 11 straight batters until Will Venable singled leading off the seventh. It was Cains second straight start allowing one run and four hits in seven innings. "He couldnt get a win his last two games, with the way he threw the ball," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "Giving up one run, and the way he gave up the run, its a shame." NOTES: Plate umpire Jerry Layne was scratched due to an illness, and a three-man crew worked the game. Hunter Wendlestedt took over behind the plate. ... Giants C Buster Posey got the night off. ... The series resumes Saturday when Giants RHP Tim Hudson (2-0, 2.35 ERA) is scheduled to face LHP Eric Stults (0-2, 5.52). ... When the Padres go on the road next week, LF Carlos Quentin, who started the season on the disabled list with a bone bruise in his left knee, will go to extended spring training in Arizona to continue working toward his return. If he does well, itll be the last step before hes cleared to go on a rehab assignment. Black also said RHP Casey Kelly, whos rehabbing from reconstructive elbow surgery, threw a side session and is scheduled to throw another extended spring game Monday. If all goes well, Kelly will go on a rehab assignment to Triple-A El Paso. Air Max 270 Prezzo Basso . HOUSTON -- Houston Texans running back Arian Foster will undergo back surgery next week and miss the rest of the season. Cheap Authentic Air Max 90 . Foster didnt practice all week after injuring his back on Houstons first series against Indianapolis last Sunday. He also missed most of Houstons previous game with a hamstring problem. Interim coach Wade Phillips said Friday that Foster had visited specialists about the problem. The Pro Bowl player gained 542 yards on 121 carries with one touchdown and had 22 receptions and another score. Ben Tate, still recovering from four broken ribs, is expected to start Sunday at Arizona. Dennis Johnson and Deji Karim, who were both signed last week, will play behind Tate. Its been a difficult season for the Texans, who previously lost star linebacker Brian Cushing to a knee injury for the second straight year. Coach Gary Kubiak suffered a mini-stroke during last weeks loss at Indianapolis, and his coaching future is uncertain. The team has said Kubiak is expected to make a full recovery. The Texans entered Sundays game against the Cardinals at 2-6 after winning the AFC South the last two seasons and posting a playoff victory each year. Foster was a key to the franchises first two post-season appearances. He has rushed for at least 1,200 yards in each of the last three seasons, including leading the NFL with 1,616 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2010. He also had 15 TDs rushing, tops in the NFL, in 2012. It was New Jersey native Miller who was the sharper fighter early, taking advantage of a typical slow start from Cerrone to rack points with a crisp jab and aggressive gameplan. But that changed in the second, as Cerrone took control of the fight. Using crushing knees to the body and big punches up top, Cerrone began to deal crushing shots in the standup game. A front kick to the liver nearly ended the fight, but referee Dan Miragliotta mistakenly thought the shot was to the groin and called timeout. Miller explained the shot was legal, and the bout was restarted, potentially robbing Cerrone of a chance to finish the fight. It hardly mattered. On the restart, Cerrone went right back on the attack, drilling the body before launching a high kick that landed flush and sent Miller tumbling to the floor. Cerrone jumped on top to secure the finish, and Miragliotta waved off the fight at the 3:31 mark of the round. In the nights co-feature, lightweight striker Edson Barboza (14-2) made quick work of Evan Dunham (14-6), landing a devastating kick to the liver that ended the fight at the 3:06 mark of the first round. Barboza was patient from the centre of the cage as Dunham looked to move in and out of range and set up a potential takedown. The strategy paid off, as they two never got into any real dangerous exchanges. Instead, a well-placed kick to the body saw Dunham crumple to the canvas, and Barboza followed with a few punches to secure the TKO stoppage. "Everybody knows my background is in muay Thai," Barboza said. "I saw his elbow come up a little bit, and just as my coach taught me, it was the opening I needed for the win." Longtime welterweight contender Rick Story (17-8) looked impressive in a one-sided destruction of Brazilian Leonardo Mafra (11-2), manhandling him the opening round before scoring a submission win in the second. While Mafra looked eager to turn the fight into a striking battle, Story wisely exploited his opponents weaknesses by repeatedly throwing him to the floor and controlling the action from top position. Mafra had no answer, bucking and rolling but never able to get back to his feet. After punishing his opponent with punches and elbows from the top in the first round, Story changed approaches in the second, locking in an arm-triangle choke and scoring the tapout victory at the 2:12 mark of the round. "Going into all of my fights, I know the takedown is going to be there," Story said after the win. "I just need to do it. Being able to go in and do what I can do was the key to my win. Air Max 90 Cheap Sale. " Lightweight Joe Proctor (10-2) survived some early trouble against a hard-hitting Justin Salas (12-6) to come back and score a TKO win of his own in the second round. Salas was the early aggressor, firing heavy shots from range and drawing blood from his opponent in the early going. A stiff right hand later in the frame would create a gruesome-looking hematoma in Proctors left temple, but Proctor refused to go away. In the second, with Salas still firing heavy leather, Proctor scored with a left hand that dazed his foe. A second came behind it, and Proctor pounced to get the finish with a flurry of punches on the floor. Referee Gasper Oliver stopped the fight at the 3:27 mark of the second round, and while Salas protested the decision, he was obviously dazed as he complained. "I worked with a great boxing coach," Proctor said after the win. "Everybody knows I like to finish with my right hand, but I was able to finish with my left hook, which was great. Ive been working and working on my boxing and looking for the knockout and it finally came." Flyweights John Lineker (24-7) and Alptekin Ozkilic (9-3) combined for one of the most thrilling contests in recent memory, slugging it out over the course of three rounds before Lineker scored a TKO win with just nine seconds remaining in the contest. The three-round affair was punctuated by vicious striking exchanges from both fighters, who stood in the pocket and traded punch after punch. Lineker was always just a touch quicker, and his shots seemed to land with a little more power. The Brazilian targeted both the body and the head, and Ozkilic finally broke in the final round. A series of left hands found their mark, and Ozkilic went to the floor, where Lineker sealed the result with a series of punches on the floor. "He liked to play my game, and that let me go for the striking and the exchange," Lineker said after the win. "I found the right openings at the right time, and that enabled me to get the knockout." In the nights first main-card matchup, Brazilian striker Lucas Martins (15-1) handed featherweight Alex White (10-1) his first professional loss with a thrilling third-round TKO. While White moved forward with big shots on the feet throughout the fight, Martins was more efficient with his counters, using pinpoint punches to pick apart his foe. In the third, a right hand scored on the button, sending White to the floor, and Martins pounced with thunderous hammerfists to seal the TKO at the 2:08 mark of the third round. "He was a very tough fighter, and it was a hard fight for me," Martins said after the win. "I have heavy hands and a long reach. BOSTON - New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and team owner Robert Kraft are listed as possible witnesses by prosecutors in the upcoming murder trial of former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. Houston Texans Jerseys .In court papers released Monday, Hernandezs lawyers asked a judge to order prosecutors to pare down their list of more than 300 witnesses. Hernandez is charged in the 2013 killing of semiprofessional football player Odin Lloyd, whose body was found in an industrial park about a mile from Hernandezs home in North Attleborough.Hernandezs lawyers argued that it is inconceivable that prosecutors will call each of the 305 people on their witness list and asked a judge to order them to reduce the list to people they actually intend to call during the trial, which is scheduled to begin in January in Fall River.Judge E. Susan Garsh denied the motion, but she urged the parties to pare down the list to the extent practical to avoid an unnecessarily protracted trial.Belichick and Kraft were interviewed by police investigating Lloyds killing, according to court documents filed earlier in the case. An attorney for the Patriots said in July that 34 text messages between Belichick and Hernandez were given to prosecutors. The listing of their names does not necessarily mean they will testify. Witness lists include the names of all potential witnesses.Prosecutors also list Hernandezs mother, Terri Hernandez; his fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins; and former Patriots teammate Brandon Spikes, now with the Buffalo Bills, as potential witnesses.Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in the killing of Lloyd, who was dating Jenkins sister. Prosecutors say Lloyd was shot after getting into a car with Hernandez and two other men, Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace. They have also pleaded not guilty to murder charges.A spokesman for Bristol County prosecutors declined to comment. In an email attached to the defence motion, Bristol Assistant District Attorney William McCauley wrote to Hernandez attorney James Sultan that the witness list was made in good faith. McCauley said the list could be reduced if both sides agree on facts that are uncontested.I am open to such a discussion to narrow the witness list and shorten the time to try this case, McCauley wrote.Hernandez also has pleaded not guilty in the 2012 fatal shootings of two men after a chance encounter at a Boston nightclub. In a separate filing released Monday, Hernandezs lawyers asked the judge to order prosecutors to return unlawfully seized property, including three iPads and two cellphones that were seized by police but later prohibited from being introduced as evidence, a Hummer automobile seized after a search of Hernandezs apartment in Franklin, and a white towel taken from Hernandezs home in North Attleborough. PETERSBURG, Florida – It doesnt take John Gibbons long after setting foot in Tropicana Field to use his alternative name for the Rays monochrome home. "House of horrors," joked the Blue Jays manager, just a couple of hours before the first pitch of the new season. Asked about his star shortstop, his lead off hitter, Jose Reyes, Gibbons was unequivocal in expressing Reyess importance to the Blue Jays line-up. "We need him," said Gibbons. "He makes things happen. We said last year, going into the season, probably the one guy we couldnt afford to lose would have been him. Then we lost him. Some other guys did a nice job filling in, but they arent Reyes." Little did Gibbons know that a short time later, after Reyes lead off at-bat on Monday afternoon, he would again lose his shortstop. Reyes, who missed five Grapefruit League games last week with what the Blue Jays called a "mild strain" of his left hamstring, experienced tightness as he ran down the line, thinking he had a single before Rays centerfielder Desmond Jennings robbed him with a headlong, diving catch. “When I hit the ball to centerfield, I saw the guy diving for the ball, I thought the ball was going to drop and bounce away from him,” said Reyes. “I tried to run a little bit faster between home plate and first base and I kind of felt my hammy there so I had to slow down and get out of the game.” The Blue Jays lost the battle, 9-2 to the Rays. It remains to be seen whether the club has lost an important soldier in the broader war for a significant period of time. Reyes was scheduled for an MRI either Monday evening or Tuesday. “He irritated the same spot,” said Gibbons. “Thats a concern.” The 30-year-old has a history of hamstring problems, but nothing recent. Reyes tore his right hamstring in 2009; he had a left hamstring strain in 2011 and hasnt had hamstring issues since. Reyes missed 66 games last year, his first as a Blue Jay, with a severely sprained left ankle suffered in the second week of the season. “I feel okay walking around,” said Reyes. “But were going to have better detail … when I get the new MRI. Keke Coutee Jersey. Hopefully I dont get it any worse because if I get it any worse thats going to be disappointing not just for me but for the entire team too.” LINEUP CONSTRUCTION The Blue Jays bench depth, which general manager Alex Anthopoulos has repeatedly identified as lacking, was forced into action almost right away when Reyes went down. Ryan Goins, a natural shortstop, replaced Reyes in the leadoff spot. Goins wasnt in the starting lineup because hes a left-handed hitter and Rays ace left-hander David Price is, to understate the matter, tough on lefties. That created a situation where Maicer Izturis was hitting in the eight-hole, left-handed hitting Josh Thole in the nine-hole and Goins in the one-spot. Not an ideal way to turn the lineup over ahead of Melky Cabrera and the subsequent sluggers against Price, one of the best pitchers in baseball, to say the least. If Reyes is forced to miss time, the Blue Jays internal options include second baseman Chris Getz and shortstops Jonathan Diaz and Munenori Kawasaki. None is on the 40-man roster, which would necessitate another player to be designated for assignment and exposed to waivers. The bottom line is if Reyes is out, any internal option results in a disconcerting lack of offence from both middle infield positions, further weakening the bottom of the order. JANSSEN Casey Janssen was noticeably frustrated at having to begin the season on the disabled list with a strain on the left side of his abdomen and back. “I dont know, maybe I was just compensating a little bit, trying to generate a little bit more power with my front side or what,” said Janssen. “Its disappointing because my arm is really starting to come around and then to have this little thing. Its not how I drew it up.” Janssen is undergoing treatment but isnt throwing at the moment and hasnt re-started his weighted ball program exercises. The plan is once the soreness subsides, Janssen will resume throwing off flat ground. “I hate going on the DL,” he said. Sochi, Russia - The closing ceremony of the Sochi Games brought a flashy and tuneful end Sunday night to the most expensive Olympics in history. Salomon Shoes Clearance Sale . Most important, perhaps, it went off without a hitch. Organizers poked a little fun at the now-infamous opening ceremony gaffe that saw only four out of five snowflakes open up into rings, leaving the Olympics logo one ring short. They opted for human rings this time, the last one opening several seconds after the first four on the floor of the stadium. It echoed the hijinks from Vancouvers closing ceremony four years ago, when a leg of the cauldron that failed to come up during the opening ceremony was finally raised into place. Sundays ceremony at Fisht Olympic Stadium included a handoff from Sochi to Pyeongchang, South Korea, host of the 2018 Winter Games. Near the end, the cauldron that was lit 16 days earlier by Russian Olympic greats Vladislav Tretiak and Irina Rodnina was extinguished after one of the games mascots, an animatronic bear, blew out a flame in the center of the stadium, a single tear dripping from its left eye. Earlier, after a childrens choir conducted by Valery Gergiev sung the Russian national anthem, flag bearers for each country entered the stadium together rather than country by country like in the opening ceremony. The athletes who stuck around for the festivities also came in together, as is customary for the closing ceremony. American ice hockey forward Julie Chu, who competed in her fourth Olympics, carried the U.S. flag. "So proud to represent Team USA (and) our amazing athletes. Humbled," Chu tweeted as she waited to enter the stadium. Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse, who won their second womens bobsled gold medal in a row, were co-flag bearers for Canada. Figure skater Maxim Trankov, a dual gold medalist in Sochi, carried Russias flag. Pop music played, but the ceremony also included a heavy dose of classical music and ballet like the opening ceremony, and a nod to Russian novelists and poets. All of it was done as temperatures hovered in the 40s, a cool close to the so- called Spring Olympics, where the weather was famously mild, with temperatures even climbing into the 60s on some days. That led to some strange scenes, including cross country skiers cutting the sleeves off their uniforms and American skier Julia Mancuso filming a surfing video for NBC on the Black Sea. There was a serious side to the warmer weather, of course, which wreaked havoc on some courses for the snow events. Snowboarders complained about slushy conditions on the halfpipe and the New York Times detailed a clandestine operation by organizers to purchase more salt needed to keep some courses properly iced. Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjoerndalen set the all-time Winter Olympics record during the games by winning his 12th and 13th medals, both golds. But Russia led the overall medal count with 33, including 13 gold medals to fall one short of the Winter Games record of 14 set by Canada four years ago at the Vancouver Olympics. The U.S. finished second with 28 medals, nine fewer than the Winter Games record 37 they captured in Vancouver. Norway was third overall with 26 medals and Canada won 25, including 10 gold -- the last secured by the mens hockey team on Sunday in a win over Sweden. The Russian anthem played for the last time at the closing ceremony during the medal ceremony for the mens 50-kilometer cross country race. Alexander Legkov led a Russian medal sweep of that event Sunday morning. Sochi organizing committee head Dmitry Chernyshenko called the games "a great moment in our history ... a moment that will never be forgotten." "This is the new face of Russia, our Russia," he said. "And for us, these games are the best ever." Russian President Vladimir Putins $51 billion Olympics were the subject of snickers early on when media and athletes arrived to find some accommodations lacking. Journalists relayed stories of unfinished rooms, broken door handles, missing shower curtains and even stray dogs in their media villages. One was told not to use the water in her bathroom, which was said to contain a dangerous chemical. U.S. bobsledder Johnny Quinn became an Internet sensation after tweeting a picture of his bathroom door, which he had broken through after becoming locked inside. The Twitter account SochiProblems had more than 330,000 followers by the time of Sundays closing ceremony, but the criticism so prevalent in the first days died down, giving way to wide praise of Sochis venues. IOC President Thomas Bach, presiding over his first games, said the athletes left a legacy of "peace, tolerance and respect" and urged, as IOC heads often do, that countries around the world follow the example. Bach thanked Putin for what he said was the Russian presidents "personal commitment to the extraordinary success" of the games. "We leave as friends of the Russian people," said Bach. News broke during the opening ceremony that a plane had been diverted to an airport in Turkey after a passenger on board allegedly issued a bomb threat and tried to have the aircraft redirected to Sochi. The incident further raised fears that Russias first Olympics in 34 years could be the target of a terrorist attack, but the games passed without any such incident. The host country faced criticism in the run-up to the games after passing laws last year aimed at keeping gay "propaganda" away from children, and officials remained adamant throughout that political protests should be kept away from Olympic venues. In the highest-profile incident of its kind, two members of the punk band Pussy Riot were among several people detained for several hours as they planned to film a protest video in Sochi. They set up a day later to film again, but were interrupted by Cossacks who attacked them with whips. The games went without a positive doping test until the final weekend, when there were six. In the last case, Swedish hockey star Nicklas Backstrom was scratched from the gold medal game Sunday after testing positive for a banned substance found in allergy medication his NHL team said he has been taking for seven years to combat severe allergies. The Washington Capitals said the medication was approved by the Swedish national team. Wholesale Salomon Shoes . The left-hander retired Joe Panik on one pitch, and as Mattingly walked to the mound, he noticed Kershaw shaking his head and waving him back to the dugout. "At that point, who am I to stop him?" Mattingly said. Right now, seemingly nobody can. Kershaw struck out Buster Posey on three wicked sliders before getting Hunter Pence to fly out, and was done for real. Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth to seal Kershaws major league-leading 19th win, and the Dodgers moved three games ahead of San Francisco in the NL West with a 4-2 victory over the Giants on Sunday. "Its obviously a huge series for us, and the way we did it is pretty cool," Kershaw said. Los Angeles leaned on its ace for the rubber game of a series that had been as topsy-turvy as any the NL West rivals have ever played. The Dodgers won 17-0 on Saturday after losing 9-0 to the Giants on Friday. Kershaw (19-3) boosted his credentials for the NL MVP and a third Cy Young Award with another big performance in a big start. The left-hander allowed seven hits, struck out nine and walked one in eight innings. He lowered his majors-best ERA to 1.70, and put the Dodgers in command of the division. "We kind of call him the big train, because he just keeps coming," Mattingly said. Matt Kemp hit his 20th homer, and Juan Uribe and A.J. Ellis each drove in a run to back Kershaws latest gem. Buster Posey and pinch-hitter Matt Duffy had RBI singles for San Francisco. The Dodgers and Giants have split 16 games this season. They have three games left against each other at Dodger Stadium next week, but San Francisco might be left trying to hold onto a wild card spot by then. The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in the second when the Giants committed two throwing errors trying to nab a hustling Hanley Ramirez on the bases after Uribe singled, then Ellis had a sacrifice fly. The Giants cracked Kershaw in the third, though they wasted the opportunity. Cheap Salomon Shoes. Posey singled home Petit before getting thrown out by centre fielder Yasiel Puig going for second, stranding Panik on third. "When you make a couple of mistakes and have a guy like Kershaw on the mound, it comes back to hurt you," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. San Francisco seemed to be regaining the momentum behind Petit (5-4) and the announced sellout crowd of 41,932, but Kemp ended that with one swing in the sixth. His two-run homer to left-centre put the Dodgers up 4-1, touching off another bubble-filled celebration in the visiting dugout at AT&T Park. Petit gave up four runs -- three earned -- and eight hits in seven innings. He struck out eight and walked none. Kershaw was thrown out at second by right fielder Hunter Pence trying to stretch a single into a double in the seventh. In the bottom half, Duffys bloop single sliced Los Angeles lead to 4-2. But Kershaw quickly squashed San Franciscos rally. He has gone at least eight innings in seven straight starts -- perhaps none bigger than his latest. "The way he finished," Ellis said, "kind of speaks a lot to his character and his will to win and his will to compete." DODGER COLLISION Dodgers 2B Dee Gordon and Puig got tangled up going for Duffys bloop in shallow centre field, but both stayed in the game. Mattingly said Puig collided with one of Gordons knees, which is just a little sore. TRAINERS ROOM Dodgers: RHP Carlos Frias (0-0, 3.91 ERA) will likely make his second career start Wednesday at Colorado in place of Hyun-Jin Ryu, who is scheduled to have an MRI on his troublesome left shoulder Monday. OTTAWA -- Johan Franzen has no explanation for his success in Ottawa, but cant deny he definitely enjoys playing in the nations capital. Air Jordan 4 Sale Cheap . The Detroit Red Wings winger was at his best once again scoring three goals in a 6-1 win over the Ottawa Senators Thursday night. Franzen, who returned to the Red Wings lineup Wednesday after playing just one of the past 24 games due to a concussion, has previously enjoyed success against the Senators. In February 2011, Franzen scored five goals against the Senators. "I like playing here," said Franzen. "We have Erik Karlsson on the other side and we grew up in the same little town so its always fun to play him. Its something special every time. Im just happy to keep him from the scoreboard. Its always fun to play him." Detroit coach Mike Babcock is pleased to see Franzen having success. "Hes an important player for us," said Babcock. "He has the ability, he has the touch. Lots of guys play real hard and cant score (Franzen) can score." It appears he also has the ability to get under his opponents skin. Ottawas Chris Neil went after Franzen late in the game and while nothing came of it Franzen was less than impressed. "He tried to hit me and he couldnt move me so I think he got a little upset," said Franzen. "I have no clue. He usually shows up when the game is over and tries to be the hero. He puts his cape on and goes and flies out there. I dont know." Riley Sheahan, Tomas Jurco and Tomas Tatar also scored for Detroit. Jonas Gustavsson stopped 37 shots. With the win the Red Wings (28-20-12) have a five-point lead over the Senators (26-23-11) for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference standings. "Coming back from the break and you start 2-0 its way better than the opposite way," said Babcock. "We know were in a battle for our playoff life. We understand that so getting off to a good start is imperative." The Senators had little explanation for their performance. "Its an extremely disappointing loss," said Ottawa captain Jason Spezza. "We knew that it was a very important game for us and to lose it by that score is obviously not what we were looking for." Bobby Ryan scored the lone goal for the Senators, who were playing their first game since the Olympic break. Robin Lehner allowed six goals on 15 shots before Andrew Hammond made his NHL debut, stopping all nine shots he faced. Things fell apart for the Senators in a nine-minute span in the first period. Ryan had a goal called back after it was ruled that he kicked it in and then the Senators leading goal scorer missed two great chances on the power play. Things began to unravel after the Red Wings scored on consecutive shots. Ottawas Cody Ceci gave the puck up deep in the Senators end as he made a no-look behind-the-back pass that landed right on the stick of Sheahan who ripped a shot past Lehner. Just 29 seconds later Franzen scored his first as he was left all alone to give Detroit a 2-0 lead. Franzen then made it 3-0 with a power-play goal as once again he was left alone, this time on the opposite side of the ice. Following the game Lehner could not hide his disappointment. "They got a few goals pretty fast and then it snowballed," said Lehner. "I think weve all got to do better in our zone and Ive got to do better. It was one of the most toughest games Ive played personally, but its over now. Theres not much to say." Detroit made it 4-0 on a delayed penalty call with two minutes remaining in the period. Niklas Kronwall, who finished with three assists, had a shot from just inside the blue-line deflected and ended up on Jurcos stick, who roofed it over Lehner. The 18,931 on hand at Canadian Tire Centre were so disappointed they booed the home team off the ice. Senators coach Paul MacLean had few words to explain his teams performance. "We played a lot better than the score maybe indicated, but the score is what it is and you cant change that," said MacLean. When asked who was the best player MacLean couldnt help but say "Johan Franzen I think. I think were all tied for the worst." Franzen completed his hat trick early in the second period. Ryan finally got the Senators on board at the four-minute mark of the second, but any celebration was short-lived as Detroit made it 6-1 as Tatar beat Lehner from in close. That marked the end of Lehners appearance, opening the door for Hammond to make his first NHL appearance. Craig Anderson was unavailable due to the birth of his second child. Despite the surprise appearance Hammond held his own and made a number of big saves. "Not letting anything in was a good start," said Hammond. "Any kid from Canada growing up playing hockey its their dream to play in the NHL and its pretty special for me to be one of those guys thats lucky enough now to say Ive played in the NHL. Its very special." This was the fourth and final meeting between the teams as they split the season series. LOUIS - The St.LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Connor Powers has a bit of Happy Gilmore in him as he winds up to attack a golf ball with his driver, though he doesnt shoot the kind of low scores Adam Sandlers character did in the movie.Kind of hard to make a lot of birdies when half the time you have no idea where the ball is going.I lose a bunch of balls off the tee, Powers said. Accuracy is not the main goal for me when I pick up a club. What is the goal for the former minor league baseball player is hitting the ball a long way, a very long way. He can pound it over 400 yards, and sometimes the balls even stay in the fairway by the time theyre done rolling. On Tuesday, he could earn a cool $250,000 if he can be the biggest of the big hitters in the winner-take-all RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship. Its pretty sweet that theres an opportunity to make money doing this, said Powers, a former Mississippi State first baseman who washed out in the minors after hitting 20 homers in three seasons in the San Diego Padres system. But if it was just 500 bucks Id still be doing it. Its just so much fun to be out there and compete, especially after ending my baseball career. Thats really what it is about for me.Powers and seven others who qualified last month in Mesquite, Nevada, will go head-to-head in the championship final at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort. Six balls each, with the winners advancing to the next round until only one long driver is still standing. The 26-year-old Powers qualified for the finals by hitting a drive 402 yards, though that wasnt enough to make him the favourite among the eight players left. Cheap Air Jordan 4. That would probably be Joe Miller, the 2010 world champion and 2013 runner-up from London who competes on the Long Drivers European Tour and has a streak of 13 straight wins.Or it could be Jamie Sadlowski, the 2008 and 2009 world champion from Canada who weighs just 165 pounds but had the longest qualifying drive of 409 yards in Mesquite. They are all different sizes and ages and have different backgrounds, said Art Sellinger, the former two-time world champion who runs Long Drivers of America. The one thing they do have in common is theyre focused on how fast they can swing a golf club and how square they can get at impact.Powers barely played golf at all before stumbling onto the long driving scene, though several of the finalists are scratch handicap players or better. Powers took up long driving at the urging of former Mississippi State teammate Jeff Flagg, who is also in the finals.Powers plays more now and is a 15-handicap, no better than most weekend golfers. But his ball striking skills — at least with the driver — are world class.I still think you have to be a legitimate striker of the ball, said Sellinger, a pioneer of the long driving ranks. Whenever Im trying to educate amateurs I tell them theyre ball strikers. I didnt say they know how to shoot 65 for a living. For Powers, its a lot like stepping up to the plate in baseball, complete with Golf Channel televising it live. Its basically home run derby in golf, he said. NEW YORK -- NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman cut Daniel Carcillos suspension from 10 games to six, meaning the New York Rangers enforcer could play in the Stanley Cup finals should the club elect to return him to the lineup. "I respect the leagues decision and how they came to a decision," Carcillo said Tuesday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. "Im just happy I could say my piece and be a part of it, say my side of the story. I think he took it into account, and Gary was great. The league was great." Carcillo was suspended May 23 after he appeared to twice elbow linesman Scott Driscoll, who was trying to keep Carcillo away from a fight, during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals. The original ban would have kept him completely out of the Cup finals, even if the series went the full seven games. Now Carcillo, who has already served three, is eligible to play in Game 4. "A bit of a dead man walking there for the last week and a half, so to hear that this morning as soon as you wake up it gives you a little boost, a little bit of energy," Carcillo said. "Just to be able to be around the guys in three games will be great. Im just really encouraged." Carcillo was originally punished under Rule 40.3 for deliberately applying physical force to an official, which carries a suspension of at least 10 games. However, Bettman decided that "Carcillos actions were more appropriately deemed a violation of Rule 40.4 for deliberately applying physical force to an official for the sole purpose of getting free of such official during or immediately following an altercation." "The National Hockey League does not and will not, under any circumstances, tolerate or condone the abuse, physical or otherwise, of our on-ice officials," Bettman said in a statement. "The strict and proper enforcement of Rule 40, therefore, plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of the game by maintaining a safe and respectful working environment for our officials." The Stanley Cup finals begin Wednesday with the Rangers visiting the Western Conference champion Los Angeles Kings. If Carcillo is activated after the suspension, he will be playing in his third Stanley Cup finals in the last five years. He made it with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2009-10 season and Chicago Blackhawks last season. Carcillo was traded to the Kings in July. The Rangers acquired Carcillo from the Kings in January for a conditional draft pick. Said Carcillo: "Looks like I would have been in the Cup final anyway." Losing rookie winger Tomas Hertl, along with other offensive struggles, contributed to the San Jose Sharks falling from three to six, and no regulation wins in the last six knocked the Minnesota Wild down from 12 to 15. One regulaation win in the past 10 games sent the Ottawa Senators down, from 20 to 25, and a six-game losing streak resulted in the Edmonton Oilers falling from 23 to 28, Among other Canadian teams, the Vancouver Canucks remain ranked fifth, highest among those north of the border. One regulation win in the last seven games resulted in the Montreal Canadiens dropping a couple of spots, to nine, while the Winnipeg Jets are up two, to 16, and the Toronto Maple Leafs lost one spot, from 19 to 20. PITTSBURGH, Pa. Joe Haden Steelers Jersey . - New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount would have a marijuana possession charge dismissed if he completes 50 hours of community service by a February court date, a western Pennsylvania judge ruled Wednesday.Blount, 28, was playing for Pittsburgh when he and Steelers running back LeVeon Bell were arrested Aug. 20 after police said they found marijuana in Bells car during a traffic stop in Ross Township, a Pittsburgh suburb.West View District Judge Richard Opiela on Wednesday ordered Blount to spend 50 hours volunteering at a charity for youth, hopefully in the inner city, after Allegheny County prosecutors suggested 30 hours. Were going to turn this negative into something positive, Opiela said.Blount didnt speak before or after his court appearance, but defence attorney Casey White said Blount regrets putting himself in that situation, he regrets having the Steelers deal with that type of situation, as well.Hes happy that this is his first step in righting a wrong and hes looking forward to helping the youth in the communities he serves, White said. He made a mistake, this was his first mistake. Hes never been in trouble. Hes never been arrested. This is his first brush with the law.District attorneys spokesman Mike Manko said plea agreements like Blounts are common in cases involving small amounts of marijuana. Ross Township police seized 20 grams of marijuana, about three-fourths of an ounce, from Bells car after the traffic stop. The judge didnt specify where Blount must complete the community service, and White planned to work with Allegheny County court officials so Blount can do the work either in Boston or Pittsburgh, or perhaps in Maricopa County, Arizona, where Blount trains in the off-season. If the Patriots play deep into the post-season, White said its most likely Blount will do the community service in Boston. The Steelers cut Blount after he left the field early during a loss at Tennessee in Week 11.White said Blount could still face NFL discipline for his arrest, but said that wont be determined until after the Pennsylvania case is resolved. Hes due back in court Feb. 4.Bell, 22, earlier this month agreed to enter a first-offenders program that could enable him to get his record expunged if he completes 15 months probation. An Allegheny County judge must still approve Bells entry into the program at a court appearance Feb. 6.Bell was also charged with marijuana possession, but his case was more serious than Blounts because he was driving the vehicle and also charged with driving under the influence. Bells attorney Robert Del Greco Jr. has said he expects Bell will serve a two-game NFL suspension after his case is resolved, meaning the suspension wont occur until at least next season.Bell on Wednesday was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 235-yard performance in Pittsburghs 42-21 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Bell ran for 185 yards and two touchdowns, and caught six passes for 50 yards and another touchdown. Hes the NFLs second-leading rusher with 1,231 yards on 242 carries and also has 71 receptions for 693 yards. Jon Bostic Jersey . Fiorentina boosted its hopes of a Champions League spot as it ground out a 2-0 win at home against Atalanta in Serie A on Saturday. Josip Ilicic broke the deadlock in the 16th minute when he curled a superb free kick into the near top right corner from 25 metres. Atalantas hopes of getting anything from the match all but evaporated when it was reduced to 10 men nine minutes from time following Luca Cigarinis second booking. Substitute Rafal Wolski sealed the match in the 86th, racing almost half the length of the pitch and holding off defenders before firing across into the bottom left corner for his first Serie A goal. WASHINGTON -- Even with a recovering Frank Lampard, Chelsea FC looks potent heading into the English Premier League season. Scarpe Adidas Outlet . Romelu Lukaku scored in the 89th minute after Lampard scored a tying goal to help Chelsea to a 2-1 victory over AS Roma in its final tuneup before its Aug. 18 opener at Hull City. Lampard, who entered at halftime and has been rehabbing an Achilles injury, struck in the 61st minute to tie it after Eric Lamelas opportunistic 21st-minute strike for Roma, which was also in the final match of a three-game North American preseason tour. "I find it hard to put a percentage on it," Lampard, the clubs all-time leading goal scorer, said of his fitness. "I feel good. Weve had a good, strong preseason now, lots of games, lots of training. . I think were ready. Well be ready next week." Eden Hazard and Demba Ba helped set up both Chelsea goals. Saturdays match capped a four-game American preseason tour for Chelsea, which won all three of its matches against Italian opposition. The Blues defeated Inter Milan and AC Milan earlier this month, both 2-0, before falling 3-1 to Real Madrid on Wednesday. "Its difficult to compare" the four opponents, said Lampard, who sat out the first two matches before playing the first half against Real Madrid. "In preseason, you cant compare. I think theyre all very good teams. Theyve got quality." Chelsea created more chances throughout Saturdays match and was rewarded in the matchs closing moments when Hazard rounded the Roma defence on the left and drove a shot into goalkeeper Morgan de Sanctis body. The rebound fell to Ba, who played a neat pass for Lukaku to finish into the net from about 6 yards. It was a deserved win, with the caveat that Chelsea used 10 substitutes and perhaps wore out Roma, which played seven starters for the full 90 minutes. Roma and United States national team midfielder Michael Bradley said fitness shouldnt be an excuse. "Were disappointed not to win, even thought it was a preseason game," said Bradley. "Its important to develop this winning mentality -- this idea that every time you step on the field you have this confidence in the team that youre going to win." After a string of Chelsea pressure earlier in the half, Lampard tied it after another swift attack that began when Hazards pass from the left found Ba. Ba played a quick touch to Lampard, who took a couple of steps and then fired a 22-yard effort inside the left post and beyond the dive of de Sanctis, sending a crowd of 25,615 at RFK Stadium that mostly wore Chelsea blue into delight. That goal tied it after Lamelas strike that came after a nightmarish mistake from Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer. With Roma pressuring the ball, Ryan Bertrand played a pass back to Schwarzer, who fumbled his trap attempt. Schwarzer chased the ball, but it smacked off the left post, past the goalkeeper and back in front of the goal, where Lamela sent it into an empty net. After Lampards goal, Roma nearly went ahead again two minutes later when Pablo Osvaldo attempted to head Francesco Tottis cross over goalkeeper Jamal Blackman, who jumped to tip the ball over for a corner kick. The Italian side missed another chance in the 78th minute, with Osvaldo this time shooting over the crossbar on an open chance from the left. Chelsea, meanwhile, was reduced to twice appealing for penalty kicks from American referee Armando Villarreal before finding a bit of late magic. Chelsea opens its English Premier League after it finished third last season, and last won the league title in the 2009-10 season. The Blues also won the Europa League last season and the UEFA Champions League the season before that. Roma, who finished sixth last year in the Serie A, Italys top league, defeated the Major League Soccer All-Stars 3-1 on July 31 and MLS club Toronto FC 4-1 on Wednesday night. The club opens its Serie A season at Livorno on Aug. 25. Roma has played 12 seasons without winning a league title, finishing runners-up six times in that stretch. Outlet Adidas On Line . Wonderful WiganWhat a year its been for Wigan. Yes, they are one of Super Leagues most successful sides, but their Grand Final win on Saturday was something special. Warriors coach Shaun Wane said it was their best ever and you have to agree with him. All sides suffer injuries but Wigan were decimated by them throughout the season - remember the team they had to field way back in April that was demolished 62-0 by Wakefield? Highlights from the 2016 Super League Grand Final Wane hailed their never-say-die attitude and it certainly told as they battled back from 6-2 down to clinch their fourth Super League title.Coming back strongerWarrington wont expect any sympathy as they had to add the Grand Final losers medals to their Challenge Cup ones after losing to Hull at Wembley in August. The Wolves certainly had their chances at Old Trafford but it was just not to be. However, Wolves coach Tony Smith believes the Wire will be stronger for the loss. Warringtons Ashton Sims dejection shows after the defeat Hopefully we can get smarter and use it, said Smith. If you listen to great sportsmen like Michael Jordan about how many games he lost - they are inspirational. England coach Wayne Bennett names his England squad for the Four Nations on Monday and Sarginson is hoping he has done enough in Super League to catch the eye of the national coach. Dan Sarginson will now head to the NRL where he links up with the Titans I hope so, said Sarginson, who deputised at full-back for the injured Sam Tomkins in Wigans last three matches of the season. If I do, Im not sure where hell play me because Ive not played too much at centre and I might not have been too convincing at full-back. But I really hope I can get into the squad and, if I can, Ill do all I can for my country. On the matter of England it will be interesting to see what happens with captain Sean OLoughlin, who was in serious doubt for the Grand Final after suffering a calf injury in August. MIAMI -- Cliff Lee will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a mild elbow strain, and the Philadelphia Phillies are relieved the injury isnt more serious. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Juanfran-Jersey/ . Lee might be able to return as soon as hes eligible to come off the DL, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said late Tuesday. "Its never good news when you lose one of your No. 1 pitchers, but its pretty mild," Amaro said. When Lee underwent an MRI on Tuesday in Philadelphia, there were concerns the left-hander might become the latest major league pitcher to be sidelined by a serious injury. More than a dozen have already have undergone Tommy John elbow surgery this year, including All-Stars Jose Fernandez, Patrick Corbin, Josh Johnson and Matt Moore. "The Tommy John thing is not what it is," Lee said. "That was good." Lee pitched 6 2-3 innings in a win over Cincinnati on Sunday. He said his elbow began to bother him after he threw a career-high 128 pitches in an 11-hit, complete-game loss against the Braves on April 16. "After the game it was pretty sore," he said. "We started doing some treatment on it and it acted like it was doing a little better, and this past start I started feeling it the last couple of innings just about every throw, and obviously it was pretty sore the next day. "It was definitely concerning that it was there on every throw. With as much season as we have left, I didnt feel that I could keep pitching." Lee rejoined the Phillies in Miami after he was diagnosed with a grade one/two strain of his flexor tendon. "Thats better news than the other," teammate A.J. Burnett said. "Youre happy for that." The 35-year-old Lee is 4-4 this season with a 3.18 ERA in 68 innings. Hell rest for a week and is expected to resume throwing after that. "We dont really know until we get there, but hopefully in a week its gone and I start playing catch, and in another week Ill start being in games," Lee said. Amaro declined to say who will start for Lee on Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lee has thrown more than 200 innings every season since 2008, when he was the AL Cy Young Award winner. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Jan-Oblak-Jersey/ . The game was moved from Ralph Wilson Stadium after the venue was deemed unplayable due to several feet of snow that fell last week, crippling Buffalo and neighboring areas. Boobie Dixon rushed for a touchdown and blocked a punt that was recovered in the end zone for another score, helping the Bills (6-5) keep their playoff hopes alive. Michael Vick struggled mightily against the Buffalo defense, completing only 7-of-19 passes for 76 yards. He limped off the field after a third-quarter interception and was replaced by Geno Smith, who saw his first action since he was intercepted three times on eight passes in the first quarter against the Bills on Oct. 26. Smith threw for 89 yards on 10-of-12 passing for the Jets (2-9). Final Score: Baltimore 34, New Orleans 27 New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Forsetts career night helped propel the Baltimore Ravens to a 34-27 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Monday. Forsett finished with a career-high 182 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries for the Ravens (7-4), who moved into a three-way tie for second place in the AFC North behind the Bengals (7-3-1). Joe Flacco threw for 243 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-24 passing, Steve Smith made four catches for 89 yards and a touchdown and Torrey Smith hauled in five passes for 98 yards in the win. Drew Brees completed 35 of his 45 passes for 420 yards with three scores and an interception, and Jimmy Graham had two touchdowns to go with 47 yards on six catches for the Saints (4-7), who went 0-3 on a homestand for just the third time in franchise history (1967, 1997). Despite the loss, New Orleans is tied for first with Atlanta in the underwhelming NFC South. It is the first time in NFL history that a division leader is three games under .500. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23 Final Score: Cleveland 26, Atlanta 24 Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Billy Cundiff kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Cleveland Browns to a 26-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Cundiffs winner came after the Falcons took the lead on Matt Bryants 53-yard field goal at the other end of the field. But Atlanta left 44 seconds on the clock -- Matt Ryan threw an incomplete pass on third down to stop it before Bryants kick -- and Cleveland had all three of its timeouts. Brian Hoyer, who threw interceptions on back-to-back possessions in the fourth quarter -- including one in the end zone -- completed four passes for 61 yards to set up Cundiffs winning kick. One of the passes was to Josh Gordon for 24 yards. Gordon returned from a 10-game suspension to make eight catches for a game-high 120 yards. The Browns (7-4) bounced back from last weeks loss to Houston and havent dropped back-to-back games this season. The Falcons (4-7) had a two-game winning streak snapped. Hoyer finished 23-of-40 for 322 yards and three interceptions. Isaiah Crowell rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Ryan was 27-of-43 for 273 yards, one interception and touchdown passes to Julio Jones and Jacquizz Rodgers. The Bears scored three straight touchdowns in the third quarter to take the lead, including two by Matt Forte, who finished with 89 yards on 23 carries to lead Chicago to a 21-13 win over Smith and McCowns Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. McCown, who spent the past three seasons with Chicago, threw a touchdown pass to rookie Mike Evans 1:36 into the second quarter to give the Bucs a 7-0 lead, but they didnt find the end zone again. The Bucs quarterback committed three turnovers, including two in the second half, as the Tampa Bay offense never gained footing after the break. Jay Cutler completed 17-of-27 passes for just 130 yards for the Bears (5-6). Alshon Jeffery caught a 2-yard touchdown pass for Chicagos first touchdown in the third quarter. Tampa Bay (2-9) never got its ground game going. Doug Martin led the team with 27 yards on 11 carries and Charles Sims added 22 yards. Vincent Jackson and Louis Murphy both had over 100 yards receiving for the Bucs. Final Score: Cincinnati 22, Houston 13 Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - A.J. Green racked up 121 yards on a career- high 12 catches, and the Cincinnati Bengals received a stout effort on defense to come through with a 22-13 victory over the Houston Texans. The Bengals kept the Houston offense out of the end zone and limited the Texans to 248 total yards in their fourth win in five games, which gave Cincinnati (7-3-1) a slim lead atop a crowded AFC North. Andy Dalton completed 24-of-35 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown to Mohammed Sanu in the triumph, with Jeremy Hill adding 87 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts. The Texans only touchdown came on Johnathan Josephs 60- yard interception return of Dalton in the third quarter. Ryan Mallett was largely ineffective in his second career start at quarterback, mustering just 189 yards with an interception on a 21-of-45 completion rate. Alfred Blue, coming off a 36-carry, 156-yard effort in last weeks win at Cleveland, was held to 46 yards on 16 rushes in place of an injured Arian Foster for Houston (5-6). Final Score: Indianapolis 23, Jacksonville 3 Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Trent Richardson and T.Y. Hilton scored touchdowns 2:23 apart in the third quarter to help the Indianapolis Colts pull away for a 23-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Andrew Luck fumbled twice on his teams first three possessions and the Colts (7-4) were tied with the Jaguars (1-10) until Adam Vinatieri kicked his second of three field goals at the end of the first half. Richardsons 1-yard touchdown run and Hiltons electric 73-yard catch pushed the lead to 20-3. Luck finished 21- of-32 for 253 yards and Hilton had four catches for 122 yards on the day his daughter was born. The AFC South-leading Colts bounced back from a 22-point loss to New England last week, during which leading rusher Ahmad Bradshaw suffered a season-ending broken leg. Dan Herron led them with 65 yards rushing on 12 carries. Blake Bortles completed 15-of-27 passes for 146 yards with an interception for the Jaguars, who have lost four in a row since beating Cleveland on Oct. 19. They were coming off a bye after losing to Dallas in London the week before. Final Score: Green Bay 24, Minnesota 21 Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Aaron Rodgers had two touchdown passes and Eddie Lacy scored twice as the Green Bay Packers edged the Minnesota Vikings, 24-21, in an NFC North battle on Sunday. Rodgers went 19-for-29 for 209 yards while Lacy finished the game with 25 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown, along with two catches for 13 yards and a score for the Packers (8-3), who have won three straight and now sit atop the NFC North. Green Bay came into the game tied with Detroit, but the Lions lost in New England on Sunday and the Packers now hold a one-game lead in the division. The Packers entered the game after consecutive 50-plus point games, just the sixth team in NFL history to turn that trick. Teddy Bridgewater went 21-for-37 for 210 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for the Vikings (4-7), who have dropped their past two games. Final Score: New England 34, Detroit 9 Foxboro, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tom Brady threw two touchdown passes in leading the New England Patriots to a 34-9 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Brady carved up the NFLs top-ranked defense, completing 38-of-53 passes for 349 yards. LeGarrette Blount had two rushing scores in his first game back with the AFC-leading Patriots (9-2), who secured their 14th consecutive winning season. New England has won seven games in a row, 14 straight against NFC North teams and 15 straight at home. Matthew Stafford was 18-of-46 for 264 yards as the Lions (7-4) fell one game behind Green Bay in the division with a second consecutive loss. Final Score: Philadelphia 43, Tennessee 24 Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Eagles bounced backk from a blowout loss with their seventh 30-point game of the season. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Santiago-Arias-Jersey/. LeSean McCoy led the way in Philadelphias 10th consecutive regular-season home win, a 43-24 decision over the Tennessee Titans. McCoy carried the ball 21 times for 130 yards and a score for the Eagles (8-3), who rebounded from last Sundays 53-20 defeat at Green Bay. Darren Sproles rushed for 25 yards and one touchdown on six carries. Mark Sanchez completed 30-of-43 passes for 307 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for Philadelphia, which will play at Dallas on Thanksgiving in a highly-anticipated NFC East matchup. Jordan Matthews caught six passes for 77 yards for the Eagles, who improved to 7-0 this season against teams .500 or worse. Cody Parkey made 5-of-6 field goals. Zach Mettenberger connected on 20-of-39 passes for 345 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for the Titans (2-9), who have lost five in a row. Delanie Walker caught five passes for a career-high 155 yards for Tennessee, which lost left tackle Taylor Lewan to an ankle injury. Justin Hunter caught four passes for 64 yards and a score. Final Score: San Diego 27, St. Louis 24 San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Gilchrist intercepted a Shaun Hill pass just inside the end zone as the San Diego Chargers held on for a 27-24 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. The Rams were already in position to attempt a tying field goal when Hill completed a 27-yard pass to Kenny Britt to the San Diego 6-yard line with a little over a minute remaining in the game. Hill looked Britts way again after a short Benny Cunningham run, but Gilchrist picked off the throw. Philip Rivers was 29-of-35 for 291 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Chargers (7-4), who earned their second straight win following a three-game skid. Hill finished 18-of-35 for 198 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for St. Louis (4-7), which was coming off a surprising 22-7 home win over Denver last week. Final Score: Seattle 19, Arizona 3 Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Seahawks used a stellar defensive performance to prevent the Arizona Cardinals from beating them at home for a second straight year. The Seahawks came away with a 19-3 victory to put an end to Arizonas six-game winning streak. The Cardinals handed the Seahawks their only home loss in 2013, winning 17-10 on Dec. 22 to end Seattles 14-game home win streak and move within striking distance of the franchises first postseason berth since 2009. However, the 10-6 Cardinals eventually missed out. Russell Wilson completed 17-of-22 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown for the Seahawks (7-4), who bounced back from last Sundays 24-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Wilson also carried the ball 10 times for 73 yards. Steven Hauschka made 4-of-5 field goals in the win. Drew Stanton connected on 14-of-26 passes for 149 yards and an interception for the Cardinals (9-2), who lost for the first time since Oct. 5 at Denver. Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald was unable to play due to a knee injury, snapping his consecutive games played streak at 110. Calais Campbell accounted for three of Arizonas seven sacks. Final Score: Denver 39, Miami 36 Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Peyton Manning threw four touchdown passes, three to Demaryius Thomas and two during a fourth-quarter rally that lifted the Denver Broncos to a hard-earned 39-36 win over the Miami Dolphins in a key AFC clash. The Broncos trailed a gritty Dolphins team for most of the game and were down 28-17 after three quarters, then erupted for 22 consecutive points in the fourth to regain sole possession of first place in the AFC West and bounce back from last weeks startling 22-7 loss at St. Louis. Manning hit Thomas and Wes Welker for touchdowns during the stretch, while C.J. Anderson had a go-ahead touchdown run with 5:01 left to highlight a career-high 167-yard, 27-carry performance. Thomas amassed 10 catches totaling 87 yards and Emmanuel Sanders snared nine Manning passes for 125 yards in the Broncos eighth straight home victory. Manning finished a sharp 28-of-35 for 257 yards for Denver (8-3). Ryan Tannehill threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to put Miami (6-5) in position for the upset before Manning engineered his 41st career fourth-quarter comeback. The young quarterback completed 26-of-36 throws for 228 yards with a costly late interception that helped seal the outcome. Jarvis Landry hauled in two of Tannehills scoring strikes and recorded seven catches for 50 yards. Final Score: San Francisco 17, Washington 13 Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Carlos Hydes late touchdown gave the San Francisco 49ers a 17-13 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Colin Kaepernick was 20-for-29 for 256 yards with an interception and a touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin for the 49ers (7-4), who have won their past three games. Coming off a tough week, Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III didnt do much to help himself in the game as he went 11-for-19 for 106 yards while adding just 11 yards on the ground. Griffin had said after last weeks loss to Tampa Bay about needing other guys to play well, with some thinking he was throwing his team under the bus, which he went on to deny on his Twitter account. On Monday, head coach Jay Gruden pointed out fundamental issues Griffin was still having but then backtracked on Wednesday by saying that no one should be singled out. Alfred Morris had 21 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown for the Redskins (3-8), who have lost their past three games. Final Score: Dallas 31, NY Giants 28 East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Odell Beckham sent social media into a frenzy and had everyone buzzing. Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys still found a way to upstage him. Romo hit Dez Bryant for a go-ahead 13-yard touchdown with 1:01 remaining and the Cowboys defense stood tall in the final minute as Dallas edged the New York Giants 31-28 on Sunday night. Right after Adrien Robinsons 1-yard TD catch gave the Giants a 28-24 advantage with three minutes left, Romo hit Cole Beasley for a gain of 21 yards to put the ball at the Giants 36. Dallas offensive line took over from there. Romo had an eternity to scan the field before firing a 15-yard completion to Jason Witten over the middle and two plays later, had all day to throw again as Bryant hauled in his 13-yard score in the back left corner of the end zone. Rashad Jennings was unable to power for a first down after bringing in a short completion from Eli Manning on 4th-and-2 and a couple of Dallas kneel downs sealed the outcome. Prior to that, Beckhams jaw- dropping 43-yard TD catch was all anybody wanted to talk about. During pregame warmups, Beckham puts headphones on and casually practices an array of one-handed snatches. That routine was put to use early in the second quarter. With Dallas cornerback Brandon Carr draped all over him along the right sideline, Beckham leapt inside the 5-yard line. He contorted his body and reached back as far as he could behind his head to snatch Mannings rainbow toss with his right hand before pulling it into his body and landing backwards in the end zone. The snag highlighted his 10-reception, 146-yard, two touchdown night. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20 Final Score: Oakland 24, Kansas City 20 Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - It has been a long 368 days for Oakland, but there was finally joy at the Black Hole on Thursday night. Rookie quarterback Derek Carr led the way as the Raiders put an end to their 16-game losing streak with a thrilling 24-20 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Carrs late touchdown pass to James Jones capped off a lengthy drive that proved to be the difference as the Raiders (1-10) won their first game since Nov. 17, 2013 against Houston. Latavius Murray rushed for two touchdowns and 112 yards on four carries before departing after the first half with a concussion. Carr threw for 174 yards on an 18-of-35 completion rate in the win. Alex Smith completed 20-of-36 passes for 234 yards with two touchdowns and Jamaal Charles ran 19 times for 80 yards while also adding a receiving score for the Chiefs (7-4), who were coming off a 24-20 win over Seattle. ST. Nike Dunks For Sale Online . SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- Chris Kirk knew he was doing enough right Sunday at Sea Island to win a tournament that means so much to him. He just didnt realize it would take something that went so wrong for Briny Baird. Tied for the lead in the McGladrey Classic, Kirk was on the other side of the 18th fairway trying to envision an approach that would cover the flag and set up a birdie chance for the win. Those plans changed when Baird, with the ball below his feet in a fairway bunker, topped a 4-iron and watched his ball roll 90 yards and into a hazard. Kirk played for par, closed with a 4-under 66 for a one-shot victory, and became the first player from Sea Island to win the McGladrey Classic -- even if the 28-year-old moved to Atlanta a few months ago after six years in this tiny slice of paradise. He received the trophy from tournament host Davis Love III, his hero when he first took the game seriously. "To come here to Sea Island, which is a place that I love and cherish so much, and Daviss tournament, it just an unbelievable thing," Kirk said. "Davis was kind of my guy when I was 12 and 13, really starting to play golf. He was my favourite player, and hes turned from being my idol to sort of a mentor and good friend. So Im a very lucky person to be in that situation, and to win his tournament really means a lot to me." The victory sends Kirk to the Masters for the first time, a tournament that means even more. His joy was tempered slightly by the way the tournament finished. "It hurt to do what I did on the last hole," Baird said. Baird is now 0-for-365 in his PGA Tour career, and it looked for the longest time that he finally would win. Baird went from a two-shot deficit to a one-shot lead in two holes on the back nine, and he was on the verge of seizing control on the par-5 15th. Baird hit his approach to 40 feet for a chance at eagle. Kirk was between clubs and pulled his hybrid into the water left of the green, and then he slammed his wedge into the turf when he chipped weakly, leaving him a long putt for par. It looked as if Baird would lead by two shots, maybe three, with three holes to play. Instead, he ran his eagle putt 4 feet by the cup and three-putted for par, and Kirk holed his 20-foot par putt to stay only one shot behind. "That kept me in it," Kirk said. He caught Baird with a 15-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole, setting up one last surprise on a back nine filled with them. Tim Clark closed with a 62 and was on the practice range, holding out slim hope for a playoff if Kirk and Baird made bogey on the 18th. Only one of them faltered, and it was shocking. Baird had a tough lie in the sand, and he felt his left foot slip. Even so, he felt he should have been able to pull off the shot. It wasnt even close. Baird struggled with his swing most of the day, and he told his caddie he didnt feel comfortable with it going down the 18th. "You mix that with nerves, and its a recipe for disaster," Baird said. Kirk finished at 14-under 266, and his last tournament of 2013 came with plenty of perks -- the biggest a trip to Augusta National, which he only has played when Georgia alumni used to invited the golf team over once a year. He also gets into the Tournament of Champions at Kapalua to start 2014. And his parents get a new photo for their mantle. The one they have is from a decade ago, when Kirk finished his sophomore year in high school and played in the Canon Cup north of Chicago. It was the first time he met Love, and his parents still have a photo of their son with sideburns and braces. "Its a pretty funny picture now," Kirk said. Now he can give them a photo of Kirk and Love posing with the trophy on the 18th green of the Seaside course at Sea Island, where Kirk had lived for the last six years until moving back to Atlanta because his wife is due next month with their second child. He still has his home at Sea Island, and it felt like the home with a large gallery waiting for him around the 18th green. It was the first time Kirk could recall such a large gallery cheering for him. If there was any consolation for Baird, it was money, of all things. The 41-year-old from Miami has said for years that he would rather have a season full of strong finishes that gets him into the Tour Championship than one win and nothing else. Even this week, he said tournament golf is as much about money than trophies. He earned $484,000 for his tie for second, and the 25-foot bogey putt was worth $220,000. Baird was playing this year on a major medical extension from having surgery on both shoulders in 2012, and the money he earned Sunday was enough for him to keep his card for the rest of the season. It was a small consolation. "Its not all about winning," Baird said Sunday. "Ive said that, but this hurts. This really does. This is very disappointing." Divots: This was the sixth time Baird has been runner-up. He has gone the longest without winning among players who have their PGA Tour cards. ... They were more than happy to put off their playoff celebration one more day. One game after securing their first playoff appearance since 2009, the Red Sox clinched the AL East title on Friday night, getting seven strong innings from Jon Lester to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-3. The victory gave Boston 94 wins, 11 more than the Tampa Bay Rays with only 10 games remaining. "Were going back to the playoffs," said designated hitter David Ortiz, who joined his teammates in revelry on the mound already wearing a ski mask to protect his eyes from the postgame spray of champagne and beer. "People have got to believe weve got a good team. Were going to take this all the way there." The Red Sox did little to celebrate after assuring themselves of no worse than a wild-card spot on Thursday. Instead, the team brought out the cigars on Friday after earning their first division title since 2007 -- a victory that allows them to skip the one-game wild-card playoff and instead rest for four days after the regular season ends. "Winning the American League East is something everybody in here should be proud of," said manager John Farrell, who was brought in to replace Bobby Valentine after last years team won 69 games. "When we got in the playoffs last night -- to see there was no response, there was no celebration. That to me spoke as much volume as anything weve done in the year. Its a focused group. Its their time tonight to go and enjoy it." Lester (15-8) earned his 100th career victory, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out eight to win for the seventh time in nine decisions. Toronto pinch-hitter Adam Lind hit a two-run homer off Junichi Tazawa in the eighth to make it 5-3 before Koji Uehara got five outs for his 20th save. With the crowd standing for most of the final inning, Uehara struck out Brett Lawrie to end the game and the Red Sox poured out of the dugout and bullpen. On their way to the mound they were given the traditional commemorative caps, along with T-shirts that said, "We Own The East." It was a stunning turnaround that came just one year after the Red Sox completed a 13-month collapse that started in September of 2011, when they blew a nine-game lead in the wild card and missed the playoffs with a loss on the final day of the season. "They believed it from the first day of spring training," owner John Henry ssaid. Cheap Nike Dunk. "But they went out and did it." Dustin Pedroia had three hits for the Red Sox, who have won 19 of their last 25. Toronto starter Esmil Rogers (5-8) did not make it out of the third inning, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks and striking out two while getting only seven outs. With the fourth-place New York Yankees winning their 81st game earlier Friday, the Blue Jays will be the only team in the AL East with a losing record. "Theyve got a great team over there. They really do," Toronto manager John Gibbons said. "They ran away with a good division. Its not even close right now." The Red Sox took the lead early when Pedroia doubled to lead off the first inning, went to third on a fly ball and scored on a wild pitch. Boston had runners on first and second with nobody out but Mike Carp lined out to the shortstop and Ortiz was thrown out at the plate when he tried to score from second on Jarrod Saltalamacchias single. Daniel Nava doubled to lead off the third inning and, after intentionally walking Ortiz, Rogers walked two more to make it 2-0. Chad Jenkins came in and got Saltalamacchia to hit into an inning-ending double play. Toronto loaded the bases with nobody out in the fourth on a walk, an error by third baseman Will Middlebrooks and a single. But Middlebrooks fielded Anthony Goses chopper, stepped on third and threw home to get Kevin Pillar in a rundown for a double play. Lester struck out J.P. Arencibia to end the inning. Rajai Davis singled, stole second and third and scored on Lawries single to make it 2-1 in the fifth. But Neil Wagner gave up four straight singles to start the seventh, including an RBI single by Ortiz to make it 3-1. Jeremy Jeffress came in and got Mike Napoli to ground into a shortstop-to-home-to-first double play. But Carp hit a line drive to left-centre that made it 5-1. After Lind made it 5-3, Pedroia added an RBI single in the eighth. NOTES: Lester is the 11th pitcher in Red Sox history to record 100 victories, and just the third left-hander. ... Toronto CF Colby Rasmus was beaned by a warmup throw before the bottom of the first inning. He was replaced in the lineup by Pillar. Gibbons said he would get a CT scan. ... Anthony Martial and Raheem Sterling have lots in common. Air Max 720 Scontate . Both are only just into their twenties, are in their first seasons at Manchester United and City respectively and both were the subject of hotly-debated transfers, albeit for very different reasons. Both have hardly spoken to the media at all, certainly not at any length, so with derby day approaching it seemed like a good idea to spend the day in Manchester and catch up with two of the brightest young talents in the Premier League. It was a slightly inauspicious start when I arrived early at Manchester Uniteds Carrington training complex in a bright blue taxi, in this week of all weeks. Sterling moved to Manchester City from Liverpool in the summer The first thing that strikes you about Martial when he walk into a room is his sheer physical size. He really is a big old unit. Smiling and polite, he makes a point of shaking hands with everybody in the room.A translator is required for the interview but he understands a lot of English already, far more than he can speak. I make a bit of effort in my schoolboy French but end up sounding like Steve McClaren auditioning for Ello Ello! Once the chat got underway his personality came to the fore. Charming and bright yet studious and sincere is how I would sum him up. Its clear the incredible position he has reached in his football career so far is no accident - but the result of talent, dedication and a steely-eyed determination. Charming and bright yet studious and sincere is how I would sum him up Shreeves on Martial Wise beyond his tender years, he learnt from his astonishing £5m move from Lyon to Monaco aged just 16, so has been able to take the seven-fold increase in his price tag into his stride as easily as he would a pass through on goal.He has very clear career objectives, which he is focused on 100 per cent.He also had a nice line in humour and a ready smile. His level-headedness is as obvious as it is impressive. I couldnt quite work out if he is a man in a boys body or a boy in a mans body. Maybe a bit of both. Interview over, and it was time to head 10 miles across town to Manchester City, where a very different interview lay ahead.Guarded, wary, suspicious and to date deliberately media shy, Sterling was shaping up to be the polar opposite of the young man I had just spent time with. Shreeves is picked up in a blue taxi for the interviews Ever since his acrimonious move from Liverpool he has been viciously vilified on social media and in his eyes he has been labelled as the perfect example of everything that is wrong with football: Greedy, disloyal and uncaring.Any time he did try to engage publicly with his opinion it just rebounded on him. So he just withdrew. Not in a sulk or complaining fashion, more of a I cant win whatever I say, so why say anything? But hes now come through all of that. And some. Today was a day off but he came in because he wanted to do the interview. He wanted to re-engage with football fans. He knows there will always be haters but he can deal with that. Uniteds form has been inconsistent, but Martial still looks a top class signing He wanted to talk football and that is exactly what he did for half an hour. Brutally honest, insightful and with a wicked line in self-depreciation his interview will suprise many people. He knows there is a preconception of him which is far from flattering. He doesnt complain about that one jot but he would like people to see the real him and then make up their mind. He is certainly on no media charm offensive, hes just looking for a bit of objectivity and fairness. There are too many highlights from the interview itself to mention but him talking about his mum and calling her Jose Mourinho had me in stitches... He knows there is a preconception of him which is far from flattering. He doesnt complain about that one jot but he would like people to see the real him and then make up their mind Shreeves on Sterling So it was a highly insightful day in sunny (genuinely!) Manchester, and I for one came away with a real insight and understanding of these fortunate young mens lives. If you catch the interviews I hope you feel the same.Watch Geoff Shreeves interview with Raheem Sterling on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday, and with Anthony Martial on Saturday or see them here on skysports.com. Gallagher had the lone goal on that day and the Habs wasted Prices 35 saves. Price remained winless in his career versus the Predators despite the solid outing, falling to 0-3-0 with a 2. Sammie Coates Texans Jersey. 35 goals against average in three meetings. Nashville, which got goals from defensemen Seth Jones and Shea Weber, is 3-0-1 in its past four versus Montreal and 3-1-2 with a tie all-time against the franchise at home. The Preds will try to bounce back from their seventh loss in 10 games, a 4-2 setback at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday. Craig Smith scored twice for Nashville, with each tally making it a one-goal game, but Tampa Bay responded with a goal shortly after both times. "They took some momentum away by scoring just after we did," Smith said. "They are a good team, but so are we. They can do some good things and so can we. They came out on top tonight and converted their chances." Carter Hutton allowed four goals on just 14 shots before he was pulled in favor of Marek Mazanec in the second period. Mazanec made 19 saves in the setback. Neither Hutton or Mazanec have ever faced the Canadiens. Injured goaltender Pekka Rinne made 28 saves in the first meeting of the season. Chicago Bears 1 (14) - Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech; 2 (51) - Ego Ferguson, DT, LSU; 3 (82) - Will Sutton, DT, Arizona State; 4 (117) - KaDeem Carey, RB, Arizona; 4 (131) - Brock Vereen, S, Minnesota; 6 (183) - David Fales, QB, San Jose State; 6 (191) - Pat ODonnell, P, Miami; 7 (246) - Charles Leno, Jr, OT, Boise State Top Picks Analysis: The Bears needed help on all three levels of their defense and ended up going for a cornerback, Virginia Techs Will Fuller, before bolstering the defensive line with back-to-back defensive tackles in Ego Ferguson of LSU and Will Sutton of Arizona State. Best Nike React Shoes . Fuller isnt as fast as the drafts top corner, Oklahoma States Justin Gilbert, and not as physical as former Michigan State star Darqueze Dennard but he may have been the most NFL ready, at least according to draft analyst Mike Mayock. "I thought he was most NFL-ready cornerback I saw on tape," Mayock said. "In run support, he reminds me of (Kansas City Chiefs cornerback) Brandon Flowers when he came out of Virginia Tech. Fuller can play nickel corner on Day 1." GM Phil Emery then carpet-bombed his three-technique issues with the unrefined Ferguson and the athletic but often out-of-shape Sutton. Best Value Pick: Fourth-round safety Brock Vereen is a blazing fast, rangy free safety with the cover skills to make a difference at a position which is a big need in the Windy City. Hes also got the bloodlines as his father Henry was drafted by Tampa Bay before playing in the Canadian Football League, and his brother, Shane, is a running back for the Patriots. Questionable Calls: Yeah, Charles Tillman is aging but the bottom line is that the Bears still have "Peanut" and Tim Jennings on the outside while the far-less inspiring Ryan Mundy and Chris Conte are currently penciled in at safety. Taking Fuller while the drafts two top safeties -- Louisvilles Calvin Pryor and Alabamas HaSean Clinton-Dix -- were available is going to be put under a microscope in the Windy City, especially if Fuller struggles early. Summary: Its no surprise that all of Chicagos picks during the first two days were used on defense but the Bears needed more than a nickel back and competition for Jay Ratliff. Final Grade: C Undrafted rookie free agent signings: QB Jordan Lynch, Northern Illinois; OT James Dunbar, TCU; DT Brandon Dunn, Louisville; LB Christian Jones, Florida State; LB Devekeyan Lattimore, South Florida; LB Tana Patrick, Alabama; DT Lee Pegues, East Carolina; TE Cody Booth, Temple; G Ryan Groy, Wisconsin Detroit Lions 1 (10) - Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina; 2 (40) - Kyle Van Noy, OLB, BYU; 3 (76) - Travis Swanson, OC, Arkansas; 4 (133) - Nevin Lawson, CB, Utah State; 4 (136) - Larry Webster, DE, Bloomsburg; 5 (158) - Caraun Reid, DT, Princeton; 6 (189) - T.J. Jones, WR, Notre Dame; 7 (229) - Nate Freese, K, Boston College Top Pick Analysis: The biggest need in Detroit was on the back end of the defense but the Lions stayed true to their board at No. 10 overall and added athletic North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron to a loaded list of offensive playmakers which already includes Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, Reggie Bush and Brandon Pettigrew. Its going to be all about outscoring people in Motown this season. The Lions did add some defense in the second round with versatile BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who figures to solidify the SAM spot next to Stephen Tulloch and DeAndre Levy. Detroit then brought in Arkansas center Travis Swanson as the heir apparent to the 35-year-old Dominic Raiola. Best Value Pick: The Lions are set at receiver with Johnson and Tate but sixth-round pick T.J. Jones is an accomplished playmaker on the college level who eventually could turn into a solid slot receiver. Questionable Call: Ebron seems like a luxury pick for a team with plenty of holes on the other side of the ball. Detroit may have been in no mans land when it comes to defensive talent at No. 10 but GM Martin Mayhew could have traded down, added a pick or two and gotten a better fit for his team. Summary: Whatever you believe, its going to be very difficult for opposing defenses to match up when Johnson, Ebron, Bush and Tate are on the field together. Meanwhile, Van Noy and Swanson figure to be solid contributors in time. FINAL GRADE: B Undrafted rookie free agent signings: QB James Franklin, Missouri; TE Jacob Maxwell, Louisiana-Lafayette; S Gabe Lynn, Oklahoma; OL D.J. Morrell, Old Dominion; S Jerome Couplin, William and Mary; WR Andrew Peacock, App State; OT Cornelius Lucas, Kansas State; FB Chad Abram, Florida State; OG Alex Bullard, Tennessee; OG A.J. Dalton, Robert Morris; DT Greg Hickman, Florida International; CB Mohammed Seisay, Nebraska Green Bay Packers 1 (21) - Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama; 2 (53) - Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State; 3 (85) - Khyri Thornton, DT, Southern Miss; 3 (98) - Richard Rodgers; TE, California; 4 (121) - Carl Bradford, OLB, Arizona State; 5 (161) - Corey Linsley, OC, Ohio State; 5 (176) - Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin; 6 (197) - Demetri Goodson, CB, Baylor; 7 (236) - Jeff Janis, WR, Saginaw Valley State Top Picks Analysis: Packers GM Ted Thompson had four picks in the first three rounds and did some nice things with them, snaring perhaps the best safety in the draft, potential replacements for James Jones and Jermichael Finley, and help for the front seven on defense. Alabamas Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, the No. 21 overall pick, is a natural center fielder and will fit in nicely opposite Morgan Burnett as Green Bays last line of defense. Second-round WR Davante Adams is a big, physical wide receiver who should fit in nicely as Aaron Rodgers third option after Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, while third-round tight end Richard Rodgers has had some weight issues and is not going to be nearly as explosive as Finley but he will help fortify a need position. Finally, defensive tackle Khyri Thornton will bring high energy to a group that badly needs it. Best Value Pick: Fifth-round wide receiver Jared Abbrederis of Wisconsin is a NFL-ready route runner with a lot of blue-collar traits who could develop into a nice fourth for fifth receiver for Aaron Rodgers. Questionable Calls: Richard Rodgers has pedestrian speed and even shakier short-area quickness so its hard to imagine him developing into anything more than a Y in-line tight end. Summary: This was a mixed bag but it looks like the Packers hit it big at the top with Clinton-Dix and Adams before things got far shakier. FINAL GRADE: B Undrafted rookie free agent signings: LB Joe Thomas, South Carolina State; QB Chase Rettig, Boston College; G John Fullington, Washington State; CB Ryan White, Auburn; RB Rajion Neal, Tennessee; LB Jake Doughty, Utah State; DL Carlos Gray, North Carolina State; TE Justin Perillo, Maine; LB Jay Elliot, Toledo DT Mike Pennel, Colorado State-Pueblo; RB James Sims, Kansas; OL Jordan McCray, Central Florida; OL Bronson Irwin, Oklahoma; LB Adrian Hubbard, Alabama; S Tanner Miller, Iowa; DE Denico Autry, Mississippi State; DB Demetruce McNeal, Auburn Minnesota Vikings 1 (9) - Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA; 1 (32) - Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville; 3 (72) Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon State; 3 (96) - Jerick McKinnon, RB, Georgia Southern; 5 (145) - David Yankey, OG, Stanford; 6 (182) - Antone Exum, CB, Virginia Tech; 6 (184) - Kendall James, CB, Maine; 7 (220) Stephen Shamar, DT, UConn; 7 (223) Brandon Watts, OLB, Georgia Tech; 7 (225) - Jabari Price, CB, North Carolina Top Pick Analysis: Vikings general manager Rick Spielman has been criticized a lot for missing so badly on Christian Ponder with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 draft. Now its time to give him credit for learning from his mistakes. Spielman has now amassed seven first-round picks in the last three NFL drafts -- Matt Kalil and Harrison Smith in 2012, Shariff Floyd, Xavier Rhodes and the explosive Cordarrelle Patterson from last year, and now Anthony Barr and Teddy Bridgewater in 2014. Barr is raw, spending just two years on defense at UCLA after flipping from running back, but his athletic skills are off the charts and some look at him and think Jason Taylor. "Ive never had a linebacker, even thinking back to my Dallas days, that has the size and speed and all the things that this guy has," Vikings first- year head coach Mike Zimmer when talking about Barr. The key to the Vikings draft, though, will be Bridgewater because Minnesota needs the answer at the games most important position. That said, getting a player with the 32nd overall pick who was once considered a top-five-level prospect is a prudent gamble. "There is no pressure on this kid to come in and play," Spielman said. "Were very comfortable with Matt Cassel right now. Were very comfortable with Christian Ponder. Hell come in and compete and then the coaches will determine if hes even ready to play this year." Third-round defensive end Scott Crichton, meanwhile, is tailor-made for Zimmers rotational style of defense up front, and the insanely-gifted Jerick McKinnon will be given every opportunity to replace the departed Toby Gerhart as Adrian Petersons caddy. Best Value Pick: It remains to be seen if hes athletic enough but fifth-round offensive guard David Yankey is a physical, road-grader who could push Charlie Johnson at left guard for the Vikings Questionable Calls: McKinnon has frightening physical gifts but he is a very raw player and its going to be difficult to get him on the field except in very manufactured situations. Summary: Spielman had done a nice job adding talent, especially in the guts of the draft. Now, hes just got to get the quarterback position right and Bridgewaters fate will ultimately define this draft. FINAL GRADE: B Undrafted rookie free agent signings: WR Kain Colter, Northwestern; C Zac Kerin, Toledo; OL Austin Wentworth, Fresno State; TE A.C. Leonard, Tennessee State; DE Tyler Scott, Northwestern; OT Pierce Burton, Ole Miss; DE Jake Snyder, Virginia; RB Dominique Williams, Wagner; OT Antonio Richardson, Tennessee; OT Matt Hall, Belhaven; WR Donte Foster, Ohio; DE Rakim Cox, Villanova; OL Austin Wentworth, Fresno State; OL Connor Bofeli, Iowa; WR Erik Lora, Eastern Illinois Nike React Wholesale . The 17-time Grand Slam champion became just the third man in history to record 1,000 wins as he joined retired greats Jimmy Connors (1,253) and Ivan Lendl (1,071). It feels very different to any other match Ive ever won, said Federer. One thousand means a lot because its such a huge number. Just alone to count to 1,000 is going to take a while. Its funny emotions right now, but clearly very proud and happy. It wasnt easy for Federer on Sunday, as he won the first set but then lost in a tiebreak to the third-seeeded Raonic. Looking back its almost nicer winning this way, through a tight match with nerves and humid conditions against a great player in a final, said Federer. It means so much more than just running away with it with the score maybe 6-4, 6-4, which was looking very likely at one stage. I guess I was much more happy having to go three sets in the end rather than winning in straight. The 33-year-old Federer improved to 8-1 against the 24-year-old Canadian in winning his 83rd career ATP singles title. GREENBURGH, N. Royce Freeman Broncos Jersey .Y. -- Just two days after surprisingly watching from the bench for a second straight game, No. 1 goalie Henrik Lundqvist agreed to a long-term contract extension with the New York Rangers on Wednesday. Lundqvist, in the final season of a six-year, $41.25 million deal, agreed to a seven-year contract worth $59.5 million. His salary-cap charge will rise from $6.875 million to $8.5 million and make him the NHLs highest-paid goalie. Lundqvist will earn $11 million next season, $10 million in 2015-16, $9.5 million the following season, $9 million in 2017-18, $7.5 million in 2018-19, $7 million in 2019-20, and $5.5 in the final year. The deal should keep him starring on Broadway for the rest of his career. "About eight months ago I sat down for the first time with my family and my agent and kind of discussed my future," Lundqvist said Wednesday after practice. "There were two things that became really clear to me: No. 1 was I really wanted to win the (Stanley) Cup here in New York. Its my biggest goal and my biggest dream and what really pushes me right now to work harder. Secondly, I want to be a Ranger for life. "To picture myself anywhere else, it was just wrong and it was never an option." New York general manager Glen Sather and team owner James Dolan agreed. That helped negotiations go smoothly until they were completed Tuesday. "There were lots of pieces," Sather said. "This was a very friendly, peaceful, low-key, unemotional decision to be made by everyone. It was fun. I enjoyed it." With the salary cap projected to rise, one hurdle was cleared. "A lot of that is speculation, so far. You still have to be careful," Sather said. "It is terrific that Henrik decided to stay here. If he had gone someplace else, I am sure he wouldve earned more money, but it always isnt money thats a factor. You have to have a competitive team. "This organization is all about team, and Henrik is all about team. There was no Im going to leave if you dont give me what I want." Now Sather can turn his focus to a slew of other potential free agents, such as captain Ryan Callahan. Sather said behind-the-scenes talks are already underway. "Henrik was the one that had to be signed first, and thats the way we tried to do it," he said. Callahan said he hasnt tied his contract situation with Lundqvists, but he made it clear that he also wants to stay. "This is where I want to be," he said. "I am not going to air it out in the media about my contract and what is going on. I will just go about my business on the ice, and that stuff takes care of itself." It has been an unusual few days for the 31-year-old Lundqvist. The Swedish native is off to a slow start this season, especially by his standards, going 8-11 with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage in 20 games. With the sudden emergence of backup Cam Talbot, the slightest hint of a goalie controversy arose when Talbot was given the start by coach Alain Vigneault on Monday at home against Winnipeg two days after he started against Vancouver, led by former Rangers coach John Tortorella. "Its been a different week," Lundqvist said, "but you learn from all these different experiences. This was an opportunity for me to go really hard in practice and focus on my game. Now we managed to get this done, and I hope from here I can just raise my game and play at the level I need to play to help this team win." Talbot had won six straight starts before Monday, including a pair of shutouts, and hadnt allowed more than two goals in any outing. Those runs ended in New Yorks 5-2 loss to the Jets. Talbot still sports a stellar 1.79 GAA in nine appearances. "It wasnt weird at all," Callahan said. "We just continued to go about our business and prepared for our next game." Not that there was any doubt on the identity of the Rangers No. 1 netminder. Now there is no question who it is and who it will be for years. That future begins Thursday at Buffalo when Vigneault will start Lundqvist against the Sabres. "What do they say? Happy wife, happy life. Happy goalie, happy team," Vigneault said with a laugh. "As you can tell, I think this was a relief for Hank to finally know for sure that he is going to be a New York Ranger for the rest of his career. "I think this is very positive for our whole team." Lundqvists deal will take him through the 2020-21 season and keep him away from free agency until he is nearly 40. "He is everything that you would want on and off the ice," Dolan said. "As a team owner, he is the model of what you want in a player and a leader." Lundqvist has been a Vezina Trophy finalist as the NHLs top goalie in five of his eight seasons, winning it in 2012. He is 284-182-57 in the NHL, all with the Rangers, with a 2.26 GAA, .920 save percentage and 47 shutouts. "Henrik has been at the top or near the top of the league in goaltending excellence," former Rangers coach Tom Renney told The Associated Press in an email. "Through the typical and non-typical dynamics of the league, players in and out, coaching changes, living and playing in Manhattan, he has been as reliable as they come. "He is driven and passionate about winning, and takes his responsibility as the starting goalie for the Rangers very seriously. Good contract for a great goalie." Lundqvist, a seventh-round draft pick by the Rangers in 2000, made his NHL debut in 2005 when Renney coached New York. "He is paying for dinner, thats for sure," Callahan said of Lundqvist. "I am happy for him. He is the backbone of this team, and weve seen for all the years Ive been here how good he is." Marquette King Jersey . LOUIS -- Roman Polak was celebrating even before Alexander Steen scored the winning goal in Saturdays 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Polak had found Steen wide open in the middle of the ice and hit him with a long clearing pass, sending in Steen alone on Carolina goalie Justin Peters. At that point, Polak knew what was coming. "He didnt even shoot it and I was already celebrating because I know it is going in," Polak did. It did, giving Steen a league-leading 17 goals and the Blues a 3-2 lead with 6:20 gone in the third period. T.J. Oshie added an empty net goal with less than a minute left to insure the Blues fifth win in six games. Steen, who also had an assist, extended his scoring streak to 13 games, the longest for a Blue since Pierre Turgeon had a 15-game streak in 1999-2000. He credited Polak and Blues defenceman Ian Cole with making the play to send him on Peters. "It was a good heads-up play to get the puck up," Steen said. "They were in the middle of a change and I found a hole." Peters, who made 28 saves, said that one hurt. "It stung getting scored on there in the third," Peters said. "He came down and made a good shot." The Blues won despite giving up two short-handed goals on the same power play for the first time in more than 20 years. St. Louis last allowed that to happen on Oct. 8, 1992 against the then-Minnesota North Stars. "Our power play has been good for us all year," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We made a couple of mistakes on entries. We didnt get it deep and they took advantage of it." Hitchcock said that Steens goal early in thhe third period was just what the team needed. Corey Liuget Jersey. "Big-time player, big goal," Hitchcock said. "We really needed that goal." Polak had a goal and assist for St. Louis. David Backes and Oshie also scored for the Blues and Brian Elliott made 18 saves. Eric Staal and Nathan Gerbe scored the Carolina goals. "I thought our effort was there; our complete level was there," Staal said. The Blues have scored first in their past 10 games, and did so again Saturday when Polak converted Chris Stewarts centring pass at 9:25 of the second period. Backes scored 2:11 later with a shot from a bad angle to make it 2-0. It appeared that the Blues were in position to add to their lead when Carolina received a bench minor for too many men at 15:05 of the period. Instead, the Hurricanes scored their first two short-handed goals of the season to tie the game. First, Staal sneaked between the Blues defence for a breakaway and beat Elliott with a backhand at 15:37. Less than a minute later, Elliott mishandled the puck along the right boards. Riley Nash stole it and centred to Gerbe and he put it in the vacant net at 16:34. NOTES: St. Louis, which had played the fewest games in the league coming into Saturday (17), will play seven more times before the end of the month starting Sunday in Washington. ... Carolinas Alexander Semin, who was hit with a hard check by Alex Pietrangelo in the first period, later left the game with what was announced as an upper body injury and did not return. ... Hitchcock earned his 618th win, moving him past Jacques Lemaire and into sole possession of ninth place on the wins list. My thumb is up to the test of battle, and its value to NHL teams. Michael Dickson Jersey . The clubs in California are exhibits A, B and C of the benefits of healthy competition. The Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks may not like the fact they’re in the same division - it makes their regular season tougher and their playoff road harder - but the team that emerges from the Pacific Division is almost certainly better off in the end. What the Kings were forced to do to subdue the Sharks and the Ducks in last season’s first two playoff rounds can’t be measured, but it would seem wrong to discount it as a positive factor in LA’s championship run. Here again is a season that features three strong teams in California. The state’s combined record is currently 11-2-2 and all three teams look like Stanley Cup contenders. Two of them will suffer because of that, but one will benefit. The question is: Which one? My thumb is down to the Edmonton Oilers’ decision to select Nail Yakupov with the first pick of the 2012 NHL Draft. I know you’ve heard that before, the Oilers are sick of hearing it and Yakupov is burdened by it. Unfortunately for Yakupov, the criticism will continue until he gets a fresh start somewhere else and the Oilers address their pressing need for blue line help. The Oilers could have solved some of their defensive woes if they had used that 2012 pick to select Ryan Murray, Jacob Trouba, Olli Maatta, Morgan Rielly, Hampus Lindholm….the list goes on. In a strong class for defenceman, after years of using top-ten picks on forwards Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Taylor Hall, Magnus Paajarvi and Sam Gagner, it was time to take a blueliner. Instead, the Oilers took the only forward since Patrick Stefan in 1999 that did not warrant the No. 1 honour. It’s not that you can’t go wrong with the first pick, it’s that you can’t afford to.
